2022 Kia EV6 vs. 2022 BMW i4

There are more electric vehicles on the roads today than ever before. That's progress. That kind of progress, however, also means there is extremely steep competition between electric carmakers. Here, we are going to look at the 2022 Kia EV6 vs. the 2022 BMW i4.

Design & Style

The Kia is decidedly a futuristic-looking vehicle. The BMW leans a bit more toward tradition.

The Kia has a sleek and modern interior. It has numerous built-in features such as an easy-to-use touch screen display. The seats are impressively comfortable and supportive, which, on long trips, is much appreciated.

The i4’s cabin gives you the option of light wood trim, white leather upholstery, and rose gold trim, but it's not standard. Compared to other BMWs, the general layout is not surprising. It boasts a seamless, massive display as one of its finest features. The BMW imitates a coupe-like profile with its dramatic roof line but, in the back, the trunk design is very traditional.

Technology & Safety

Starting with technology, the 2022 Kia EV6 has an extended range of features. It can go up to 370 miles on a single charge. That means you can drive for a long time without being concerned about excessive power loss. The Kia EV6 also has impressive charging capabilities, which you'll appreciate a number of times. In just 30 minutes, it can be charged up to 80%.

There are both optional and standard driver assistance technology items on the BMW as well as a vast selection of safety features.

Performance

The Kia has a maximum torque of 295 lb-ft. In terms of performance, in 6.5 seconds, the Kia accelerates from 0-60 mph. Finally, the Kia gets an EPA range of 234 estimated miles where fuel economy is concerned. In a US News evaluation that uses roughly 12 data elements and pieces of research, it rated 8.5 out of 10. Specifically, the interior rated a 7 out 10, performance 9.4 out of 10, and the critics’ rating came in at 9.5.

The i4 eDrive40, on a full battery, can travel roughly 300 miles. In eight hours, it can charge up to 100% from zero. It takes roughly 3.3 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph in the M 50 model. BMW’s i4s offers a range of 335 to 536 hp. In a US News evaluation that uses roughly 12 data elements and pieces of research, it rated 8.4 out of 10. Specifically, the interior and performance ratings were relatively neck-and-neck between the two vehicles presented here, however, the critics’ rating came in at only 8.8.

The Bottom Line

The Kia EV6 has many active safety features, an upscale, comfy interior, lively handling, and offers a lengthy driving range.

The BMW also offers a lengthy driving range as well as quick acceleration and engaging handling. Unfortunately, the backseat and trunk are on the small side, the standard cabin is relatively dull, and there's very little steering feedback.
