2023 Kia Forte vs. 2023 Toyota Camry

The 2023 Toyota Camry has earned praise for its fifty mpg hybrid, standardized safety tech, and formidable V6 performance. But does it have what it takes to beat the 2023 Kia Forte, a car which is highly regarded for its exterior style, airy cabin and outstanding fuel economy?

Design & Style

The Kia Forte is a sedan capable of comfortably seating five passengers. Few changes have been made to it this year, other than the discontinuation of the GT Technology edition as well as new standardized safety functions for GT models when they’re equipped with an automatic transmission. Its cabin is exceptionally well designed, with enough space and head room even for taller passengers, and a cargo capacity of fifteen cubic feet.

The Toyota Camry is moderately sized and also capable of seating five people. It offers multiple powertrain options and its latest updates for this year include Nightshade Edition, which provides a blacked out cosmetic appearance for SE models. Also included are nineteen inch bronze colored wheels with a dark rear spoiler and mirror caps. The Camry’s standardized safety gear has also been upgraded. It too reserves fifteen cubic feet for cargo space.

Technology & Safety

The Toyota Camry has earned one of the auto industry’s best safety awards, which is the Top Safety Pick from the IIHS. Its safety gear includes adapted cruise control, automated high beams, emergency automated brakes, back seat reminders, activated lane control and pedestrian detection. Perks within its cabin consist of Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, seven inch touch display, Android Auto or Apple CarPlay and cloth seats with air conditioning.

The Kia Forte has also earned the Top Safety Pick award. It is equipped with the same features as the Camry, which include activated lane control, blind area monitoring, emergency automated brakes, adapted cruise control, frontal impact alerts and more. Perks within its cabin consist of ten inch touch displays, HVAC vent, USB port, charging wireless pad, eight speaker audio system from Harmon Kardon, seats that can be cooled or heated, leather upholstery and keyless start with A/C .

Performance

The most powerful version of the Kia Forte is the GT, which is outfitted with a turbo 4, 1.6 liter engine that can generate 201 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in around 6.7 seconds. The Toyota Camry comes with an inline 4, 2.5 liter engine that can generate 203 horsepower with the ability to accelerate from zero to sixty in around 8.2 seconds.

The Bottom Line

Both cars are evenly matched when it comes to seating capacity, safety credentials and horsepower. But the Kia Forte is more affordable with bigger touch displays, and the Camry has a strange dashboard layout, dated infotainment and a dull introductory model, and this makes the Kia Forte the winner.
