How To Change Kia Headlights

Changing a car's headlights is a simple and rewarding project. It can make your car safer, improve its appearance, and save you money on the road. In this guide, we will walk through the steps needed to replace the headlights on a Kia, including how to remove them from the vehicle and how to install new ones.

How To Tell If Your Kia's Headlights Need Changing

You should always keep your headlights in good condition so that you can see clearly at night. The Kia headlights should be changed if they become broken or murky. If the headlights need to be fixed, then it is time to replace them with a new pair. If your Kia's headlights need to be more brightly and dim, it is also necessary to get a new pair of lights for your vehicle.

You can save money by doing it yourself; sometimes, changing the headlight bulb on your Kia Sorento is the easiest way. However, if you don't feel comfortable doing that, get someone who knows what they are doing to do it for you! Always check the manual for instructions on how to change your headlights before trying anything else because each vehicle has different processes involved in changing out its lights.

Changing Your Kia's Headlights

  • The first step is to remove the support rod from your Kia's hood. The support rod should be attached to the hood, so it should not be difficult to remove. Check that the hood is securely open before proceeding further.
  • Once you've done this, open up your car's hood using both hands and make sure that it stays open by propping it up with a support rod (if you find one). The support rod should be located underneath or beside your car engine where you can easily reach it while still sitting in your driver seat.
  • With the battery disconnected, you need to remove the two bolts that secure your headlights. These are located above and below the headlight, along with two plastic retainers holding them in place. These screws are typically located near where your headlamp meets its housing (the box-like part that houses your headlights).
  • Don't take these off! You just need to loosen them enough so that they come out easily when you pull on them with your fingers.
  • Remove the headlight assembly completely by pulling it out of the vehicle and setting it aside for now (or just disconnecting it from any wires if necessary). Depending on whether you have halogen or HID lights on your Kia, you can remove four or five bolts around its perimeter.
  • Disconnect all wiring harnesses connected to each side of your new headlights so that there is nothing left but bare metal when you're ready to install them again later on--this may take some time if there's a lot of wiring involved!
  • Remove the old headlights by pulling them straight out of the car. Do not twist, bend or pull on the wires while they are still connected to your original headlight assembly. Be careful not to touch or damage any other part of it; paint or other contaminants on those surfaces could cause damage if left there for too long.
  • Once you have removed the old headlight assembly, place the new one. Tighten retainer screws to hold them in place. Reconnect power leads to the back of the new headlight assembly.
  • Make sure you connect the positive lead first and then the negative one. Make sure you have the correct size wrench to make this connection and a helper, if possible, to hold up one end while you tighten them down on both sides. You are reconnecting two terminals on your battery, so do not cross them up!
