How To Replace Kia Car Key Battery

Your Kia key fob is one of the most important parts of your car. It's what unlocks your door, starts the ignition, and powers up certain features on your vehicle. If it stops working, there are several reasons why this could happen. Many people believe that their remote just needs to be replaced when it stops working, while in reality, they have a different problem altogether. This guide will show you how to replace a Kia car key battery so that you can get back on the road as quickly as possible!

Replacing The Kia Car Key Battery Is An Easy Task

Batteries power Kia car keys, and as with most batteries, they can fail over time or be damaged. Replacing the Kia car key battery is an easy task that will only take a few minutes to complete.

Many Kia models have a slightly different design and push-button release on the back of the remote to pop open the casing to change out batteries. The release button is located on the back of the remote, and it is often a small button that is recessed into the back of the remote.

You can use your fingernail or small screwdriver to depress this button, which will pop open the remote's casing and allow for battery replacement.

You'll need a replacement battery and some tools that you probably already have around the house (like pliers). If you don't have any of these materials on hand, try asking your local hardware store or finding them online South Shore Kia.

Remove The Key Fob From The Car Keys

You will need to remove the key from the car before you can replace its battery. This is easier said than done because most modern cars have locked ignition systems. To open the lock, you must first turn on your car's engine, then press a button on the fob that has been inserted into your car's ignition cylinder (the slot where you insert your key).

Next Use A Flathead Screwdriver To Pop The Top Off Of The Fob

The next step is using a flathead screwdriver to pop the top off of the fob. If it's still partially covering up the battery, you should get it off easily by turning it over and pressing it with your finger or a small tool. After that, you can remove the battery from the open key body by pressing on it with your finger or a small tool.

If your key fob has a removable cover on top (some don't), use a flathead screwdriver or other similarly shaped tool and pry off the cover from around the edges until it pops off completely. Be careful not to scratch any part of your car key while doing this! If there are any small pieces left behind, they can be gently removed with tweezers or other tools of your choosing.

Insert A New Battery Into Place So That The Positive Side Is Facing Upward

Now that you've completed all other steps, it's time to put your new battery in place. Insert a new battery into place so that the positive side is facing upward. The positive side of the battery is denoted by a plus sign (+). Make sure that you insert the battery correctly, with the positive side up and facing in toward your key fob, or else it won't work. When inserting the key fob's new battery, you should hear a clicking sound.

Once the battery has been replaced, and the key fob is back together, it's time to test it out. If everything works as expected, then you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that your keys are in working order once again! If there are still problems with the key fob not working correctly, it may be time for an upgrade. If this is the case for you, then we recommend looking into getting new Kia remote fobs from an authorized dealer like us here at South Shore Kia so that they can help you choose which option will work best for your specific vehicle needs.
