How To Set Kia Cruise Control

You've got a new car, congrats! You can count on the Kia to get you where you need to go in style and comfort. Once you get the hang of it, driving a Kia with cruise control is easy. To do so, just follow these guidelines:

  • The cruise control system can be activated by pressing the CRUISE button on the steering wheel. When you enter cruise mode, the dashboard will display CRUISE. The next step is to press the gas pedal until the vehicle reaches the speed set by the cruise control. Keep in mind that you should choose a speed greater than 20 miles per hour (or 30 kilometres per hour).
  • Then, activate the cruise control by pulling the lever down to SET, under the CRUISE button; once the required speed has been reached, the lever will automatically return to its previous position. This will trigger the SET alert on the control panel. From now on, you can relax and enjoy the ride by taking your foot off the gas.
  • To alter the speed, look at the screen to see the current rate, then either pull the lever up to RES + to increase the rate, or push it down to RES - to decrease the rate. In order to increase or decrease the speed by 1 km/h, you must momentarily pull the switch up or down.
  • You can also temporarily boost or reduce the pace. If you need to accelerate up quickly for any reason. Let's say, to pass another car when you're in the middle of a highway cruise, just step on the accelerator. If you let up on the accelerator, you'll go back to your predetermined speed.
  • If you want to temporarily stop the cruise control from working, you can do so by pressing the CANCEL button, stepping on the brake, reducing your speed to less than 12 mph (20 km/h), or shifting into N (Neutral) if your car has an automatic transmission.
  • To resume cruise control, temporarily move the lever to the RES + If the speed drops below 20 mph (32 km/h), the cruise control won't kick in and the car will revert to the preset speed.

Warnings and Security Measures

  • Turning the car off or pressing the CRUISE button will turn the cruise control off permanently.
  • It doesn't matter if your car has regular or adaptive cruise control; here are some guidelines to keep in mind for your safety.
  • Stay alert and focused at all times while driving, as you never know when an unexpected event could occur due to weather, road conditions, or traffic.
  • Do not use cruise control in rainy, haily, or snowy circumstances where the roadways may become sloppy and cause an unforeseen collision owing to the lack of traction.
  • It is recommended that cruise control be utilised only on freeways with light traffic. Additionally, remember to leave adequate room between your car and the one in front of you. You should brake or use the CANCEL button to turn off cruise control if you anticipate heavy traffic up ahead.
