2022 Kia Soul vs. 2022 Hyundai Venue

The Kia Soul and the Hyundai Venue are both considered subcompact SUVs. So, it would stand to reason they would have numerous similarities. There are some very distinct differences, however, as well. Here, we'll compare the 2022 Kia Soul versus the 2022 Hyundai Venue, category by category.

Design & Style

With an appealing exterior design, the 2022 Kia Soul has a funky, youthful look. The Soul's "tiger nose" grille, stacked headlights, and other unique features give it a head turning, distinctive look. The Soul's eye-catching style is available in a wide variety of colors, making it even more impressive. Its interior is fun and colorful, with interesting textures and soft touch materials throughout.

The interior of the 2022 Hyundai Venue rated 7.3 out of 10, which seems a tad unfair considering its roomy seating space. The rating may have something to do with the fact that the cargo area is relatively small. On the other hand, the infotainment system is reportedly user-friendly, but there's a lot of hard plastic on the interior. What's more, at higher speeds, engine noise and wind make their way inside.

Technology & Safety

The 2022 Kia Soul is a leader in terms of technology and safety. The Soul's dashboard is user-friendly with big, easy-to-use knobs and buttons. Plus, the Soul comes with a standard 8" touchscreen display.  The vehicle comes packed with an impressive array of standard features, including a rearview camera, an 8-inch infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic emergency braking, and front and rear parking sensors.

Even the standard 2022 Hyundai Venue offers an impressive array of features including lane keep assist, forward collision warning, Apple Car Player, an 8-inch touchscreen, and more. The interior is reasonably spacious and well made. On crowded streets in particular, it's easy to maneuver and park.

Performance

The Kia Soul produces 147 hp @ 6,200 rpm horsepower with a 2.0-liter engine that offers 132 lb-ft @ 4,500 rpm of torque. The Kia gets an EPA estimated 27 city/32 highway MPG. If you're looking for a small car with performance and great engine specs, as well as impressive fuel economy, the Kia Soul is the vehicle you've been searching for.

Compared to the Kia Soul, the 2022 Hyundai Venue suffered a slightly less favorable ranking where performance and interior are concerned. The Venue, however, did have an impressive safety rating. Once again, however, in the area of quality and reliability, it was outdone by the Kia. In mixed highway and city driving, you can expect roughly 31 MPG from the Venue.

The Bottom Line

The 2022 Kia Soul comes with a lengthy warranty, easy to use infotainment tech, lots of cargo space, and features adult friendly seating. Its straightforward infotainment technology and abundant cargo/cabin space are big factors that help contribute to its high-ranking.

The 2022 Hyundai Venue features a user-friendly infotainment center, offers great fuel economy, and is highly maneuverable. Unfortunately, with its meager passing power and a relatively small cargo area, it won't meet the needs of many of today's subcompact SUV aficionados.
