Brentwood, NY is a suburban town in Suffolk County, on the South Shore of Long Island. The population was 44,947 at the 2010 census. Brentwood is bordered by the village of Northport to the north, by Central Islip to the east, and by Bay Shore to the south. The Town of Islip is on the western border.

It became known as Brentwood in 1859 when the post office was established there. The town was once known for its vast apple orchards, but those have been replaced largely by housing developments.
